Boasting all the credentials of a boutique hotel, behind the modern exterior of this stunning property is a stylish home from home that’s opulent but never over-the-top and brilliantly combines an expert eye for interior design with a focus on guests’ comfort. A firm favourite for big group getaways, it’s delightfully private and practical, but has plenty of playful touches too.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Antiques, curios and clever finishing touches add a homely feel throughout the property, and set the scene for peaceful slumbers in each of the five bedrooms here. On the first floor, the large master suite features a king-sized bed and a private balcony, while a walk-in dressing room leads to a spacious en suite bathroom with bath and large shower cubicle. An antique French double bed commands attention in the second room on this floor, complementing the chest of drawers and Captain’s chair. This room, too, has an en suite shower room, and lovely views to the nearby woodland and Walberswick Common. The third bedroom on this first floor has a king-sized bed, while a family bathroom offers a bath and separate large shower cubicle for the ultimate in convenience. On the second floor, the twin beds in each of the two rooms can be converted into super-kings – just let us know which you’d prefer when you book. There’s a shower room on this upper floor too, while a cloakroom off the entrance hall adds convenience at ground level also.
Cooking and dining
At the heart of all the holiday action, the hand-built kitchen here has an island unit, large American-style fridge/freezer with automatic ice-maker and chilled water dispenser, six-burner gas range cooker with double electric oven, microwave and vintage butcher’s block. A Sonos music system provides entertainment while you work, and French doors open onto the garden and terrace for a breath of fresh air. To one end of the large living room – think: squashy sofas, inglenook fireplace with woodburner and warm wooden floors and furnishings – is the dining suite, before more doors onto the garden and woodland views. Move mealtimes outdoors when the weather is fair – there’s a charcoal barbecue and dining table and seats for 10 in the garden too!
Part of a private estate within Walberswick, Teal House has a large parking area with space for up to four cars and is surrounded by a garden that’s completely enclosed and dog-proof. Laid mainly to lawn with some mature trees, the garden has a gate leading onto a path that takes guests to Walberwick Common. Electric car charging point on outside wall of the garage.
A desire to please is evident at every turn here – the owners really have thought of everything a guest might need! Smart TVs, Sonos multi-room music system, a separate games room complete with full-sized football table, Sony PlayStation 4, Superfast Broadband and WiFi are all provided, along with hairdryers in some of the bedrooms and logs for the woodburner – all you have to do is arrive, unpack… and unwind.
Wooden cots, highchair and stairgates can all be added if you’re holidaying with young ones, and two dogs are welcome to join in the fun. The utility room features a washing machine with integrated tumble dryer along with a 36-bottle wine fridge, and direct access to both the kitchen and rear garden makes it ideal for the discarding of shoes and coats after a walk.
Teal House is a lovely property for a large group. All of the rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. We stayed over Christmas and the house looked very festive. There is ample parking for 4-5 cars. We have stayed in lots of houses and villas over the years and this was definitely the best equipped, the owner has thought of everything. It is a 15 minute walk to the Anchor Pub and a bit further on to the Bell Pub. Both serve good food and the staff were really friendly so worth a visit. The house is also within easy reach of other small towns in the region.
This property is a beautiful well equipped, well appointed home from home .
We loved Teal House in walberswick! Fabulous furnishings! Excellent location! Really helpful owners! Thank you for our stay!
Another lovely week at Teal House. Very many thanks for the 'welcome pack' and for equipping the house with every possible utensil! Weather has been very kind to us - beautiful walks along the beach to Dunwich, collecting shells with the toddlers en route! Africa Alive a great day out for all ages. Hope to see you again next year
ANOTHER wonderful week at Teal House. The weather has been fantastic, we love Suffolk. Thank you for the lovely welcome hamper - we re-purchased cheese and bacon from the deli. We swam in the sea, biked, crabbed, walked and ate a lot. Lots of lovely comfortable room for us all - hope to be back next year!!
Our second visit to Teal House. Well equipped and very clean. Owners have given great thought to the property.
Thank you for a supurb week at Teal House in Walberswick. The house is fantastic for three generations and two dogs. Perfect for walks and games on the common. Ideal for walks down through the marshes. Crabbing, fish & chips, the beach & three of the party had a trip on the Voyager, bike rides and fun!
Thank you for sharing your house with us. We have had a wonderful time and don't want to return to reality! We have loved Walberswick; walks, fresh air, good food and a great place to stay. Thank you from us all - what more could we have asked for.
What a find! Our most favourite holiday home - especially in Walberswick! Superb for grandparents, children and dogs. Hopefully we will be allowed back!
A super property delivering everything you could want for a week away. Super location.
Thank you for a very enjoyable stay in Teal House. We have been very comfortable, best house yet. Lots of places to explore and eat at.
Our third stay in your beautiful house! We have had a wonderful family holiday. Lovely walks, fantastic pub lunches, crabbing, swimming in the sea and lots of laughter. Thank you so much for the welcome hamper - all delicious (especially the honey and the butter!). We look forward to staying again. P.S. We love bird watching, especially seeing the woodpecker!
The best equipped house we've ever stayed in. Access at the back was brilliant for dogs and children! We heard cuckoo's, nightingales and many other birds. We love Suffolk and this area in particular.
A beautiful, exceptionally well equipped house. The walks from the back gate go on forever, perfect for the energetic dogs and delightfully peaceful and quiet. The village is lovely and had everything we needed including the little deli for a few treats. Our welcome hamper was fantastic, the owners have thought of everything to make this a five star property! Superb, we will come again!
What a wonderful base for our holiday. We booked the house for my husband's 50th birthday celebrations; we were able to host our multi-generational family with ease. Super walks - we recommend a walk into Southwold; our two dogs are exhausted. Teal House is well equipped and the owners have provided some lovely extras - the hamper was fantastic. Thank you for helping to make our stay so relaxing - we've had a super time.
I could stay here forever! Beautiful house and location, even the weather behaved. Thanks for the Yorkshire Pudding tin! We hope to return some time.
We had a wonderful time here at Teal House. The week was great and so was the house - very well equipped. We hope to return soon!
Lovely house, well equipped. Had great weather all week, lots of walking direct from the house. It was a very nice touch leaving a welcome basket, much appreciated. All in all a superb base for visiting the area. Hope to be back!
Thank you for a lovely holiday. House is great as always and the welcome hamper was excellent. Sun has been shining so some lovely long walks - and this time our first visit to the nostalgic (and a little but eccentric) Electric Picture Palace at Southwold.
