Pretty-as-a-picture both inside and out, this cherished cottage has Arts and Crafts styling coupled with a sunken terrace and sea views. In its owners’ family for generations, it boasts traditional beamed ceilings, five bedrooms, three bathrooms and is close to both coast and countryside... come soon and immerse yourselves in the best of all worlds!

Bedrooms and bathrooms

A ground floor bedroom has glazed French doors leading onto the cottage garden and comes complete with zip-and-link beds that can be made up as two singles or a super-king – just tell us which you’d like when you book. An en suite shower room to this bedchamber complements the family bathroom and separate cloakroom that create the ultimate in flexibility on this floor, and there’s a further bathroom on the first floor. Enjoy sea views and the honeyed hues of traditional roof beams in the king-bedded room on this upper level, choose between two single bedrooms or opt for the twin room – all the beds here are oak-framed and feature storage drawers underneath, and bed linen is included in the cost of your holiday.

Cooking and dining

A characterful galley-style kitchen includes an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, while the dining room boasts old-fashioned brick flooring, a table and seating for eight and a glazed door leading into the garden. Outdoors, the sunken terrace features a stunning slate table and chairs, while to the rear of the garden you’ll find a barbecue beside circular bench-style seating that surrounds a firepit – it’s a lovely spot for outside feasts and fireside sing-songs.

Chock-full of kerb appeal, this pretty cottage is set within flower-filled gardens from which a footpath leads cross-country to the beach. The enclosed rear garden has a  lawn plus mature trees and shrubs, together with a sunken terrace, sheltered loggia and separate patio area complete with firepit and barbecue. An unfenced pond has reinforced metal mesh just below the water’s surface for peace of mind, but please do keep a careful watch on any children playing in the garden.

A gated driveway provides off-road parking for up to four cars – everything that makes Walberswick such a prime holiday location is within walking distance once you’ve settled in. WiFi, Superfast Fibre Broadband, BluRay DVD, a Smart TV and Playstation 4 will provide all the entertainment you need, while year-round cosiness is a cert thanks to underfloor heating on the ground floor plus storage radiators upstairs and down.  A woodburner in the beamed sitting room supplements the heating and a small basket of logs will greet arrivals from November to March.

This old thatched village house feels like a home rather than a holiday let. The pictures, vases and sculptures, plus large comfy sofas in the sitting room with well equipped kitchen make it feel lived-in. The four upstairs bedrooms are simple and pleasant. The downstairs bedroom (nice and peaceful for grandparents) is spacious. A spacious garden with lawn, shrubs and trees gives plenty of running about space. The location is great: a few minutes walk to the beach, two minutes from the excellent Black Dog deli and a few yards further is the Co-op village shop with a good range of stock. Would definitely stay again.
