Description

Intro

Prepare to be impressed: behind the New England-style weather-boarding of this Walberswick residence are well-dressed rooms full of the ‘wow’ factor. Don’t be fooled by the rural location… it’s a drool-inducing des res filled with high-end furnishings and lavish finishing touches, a sophisticated destination for discerning guests.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Away from the elegant living areas, the three bedrooms here are havens of comfort and calm – each a clever fusion of coastal and cosmopolitan influences. Off the spacious hall of the ground floor, a master bedroom features a king-sized bed, drawers, dressing table, wardrobes, armchair and a glazed door leading onto the garden, and there’s a stunning tiled shower room en suite. A second bedroom at ground level has windows on two walls, tempting twin beds and plenty of storage so you can unpack and settle in properly, and a spacious family bathroom is beautifully presented, peaceful and comes complete with a bath and separate shower enclosure. Upstairs, a first floor bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe with shelves as well as hanging space, dressing table and chair, plus an en suite shower room – expect the height of luxury and you won’t be disappointed!

Cooking and dining

The honed limestone floor tiles of the huge ground floor hallway – full of interesting art and collectables, even this is a space to savour! – lead to glazed French doors into the open plan living and kitchen area. Here, an electric Aga cooker is at the hub of a bespoke, hand-made kitchen which also includes an American-style fridge and separate freezer, great storage and a Nespresso machine – just bring your own coffee capsules. A traditional-looking dining suite complements the wooden flooring underfoot, guiding guests into a cosy sitting area with big, squashy sofas and doors leading out to the terrace and garden beyond.

Outside

Stunning landscaped gardens filled with well-tended trees and shrubs evoke a New England-style street scene and hint at just how much thought and care has gone into the renovation of this incredible holiday home. Parking for three cars, lawns and terraces offer guests their own private place in which to unwind, while Walberswick’s pretty shops, pubs and beach are within easy walking distance.

Practicalities

All the high standards of a top hotel combine with the creature comforts of home here – bathroom towels, bedlinen, free WiFi, TVs and central heating are all included in your holiday price! On the ground floor a utility room houses that all-essential washing machine and separate dryer, its storage space supplemented by more beneath the open-tread timber stairs leading up to the first floor. At this upper level the property’s party appeal really shines bright – a second lounge area is filled with light and has three large sofas, a chic blue-and-white colour scheme and beautiful contemporary accessories.
• For an even bigger group getaway, why not book Stocks Studio too? Opposite Lampland House, it sleeps eight people in four bedrooms, is dog-friendly and shares the same attention to detail in its interiors.

Reviews

We had a fabulous week in Lampland. The house, location surpassed our expectations and as the weather was gorgeous we loved the terrace area and were able to eat out. The house was so well equipped and decor fabulous, beds comfy, I’m not sure we will ever find as nice a property to rent again, hence we will be back!!

Mrs P M,

This was our second year at Lampland House and the property did not disappoint. Immaculately clean and beautifully furnished throughout- a delightful area to stay we loved everything about it! Sad to leave!

Sue R,

The property was perfect for our needs both with our weekend guests and for the rest of the time when we had it to ourselves. Lamplands is really spacious with extremely well fitted out bedrooms and bathrooms and furnished throughout with a high quality of linen and soft furnishings. We loved the decorative style so much in keeping with its seaside location and also the outdoor decking and garden areas and the well equipped spacious kitchen/dining area.

Alan W,

We had an excellent time. The property was extremely comfortable and in a good location- with a small supermarket and two good pubs a few minutes away. We have holidayed in the area on several occasions in recent years, so we knew our way round. We took our young grandson 'Crabbing' in the local river on a couple occasions, plus kite-flying on Walberswick beach. We enjoyed visits to Minsmere RSPB Reserve and Dunwich Heath, village and museum. We also went to Hen Reed Beds, Southwold and Snape Maltings. The property was a large, spacious, detached property, set in immaculate gardens. The house has two double en-suite bedrooms and a twin bedroom. It is well decorated, spotlessly clean and with a selection of interesting art work on display. A modern, well appointed kitchen area and a lounge are on the ground floor. On the first floor there is another lounge and access to a balcony along one side of the house- from where there are views of the sea in the distance. The garden, particularly the lawns were well presented and we had daily visits by a pheasant and on a couple occasions, a pair of Red-Legged partridges were a bonus. It was very nearly perfect, but we could not get the DVD player to work- This would have not disappointed the adults but our six year old grandson was. However, the books and games were appreciated and helped to compensate for the lack of a DVD player. Secondly (not withstanding the beautifully appointed kitchen area) we thought that a microwave oven might have been useful. Perhaps there was one provided, but we could not find it. None of this really detracted from an extremely enjoyable holiday in a stunning property, set in an immaculate garden.

Mr S,
