Description
Intro
It once offered 'good stabling' and 'fine ales and stout'... but the hostelry which, until the 1950s, was known as The Marquess of Lorne is now one of Southwold's loveliest holiday cottage conversions. Guests simply adore this brilliantly-appointed abode, which sleeps five and has its own private parking area. Expect period features juxtaposed with every modern must-have, and enjoy being within walking distance of all the town's holiday attractions.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Two bedrooms and a family bathroom on the ground floor make this a versatile property choice. Soft carpets underfoot and well-chosen wooden furnishings make both the master double-bedded room and the single bedroom comfortable places to retire to. Reached by a staircase from the sitting room, the twin-bedded basement room is a cosy and ever-so-clever use of space - children love it, though it's big enough for grown-ups too!
Cooking and dining
Rustic flooring, creamy-coloured cabinets and vintage pine furniture put the large open plan kitchen and dining room at the heart of this lovely home. There's everything you need here for family mealtimes, including a fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, plus a door into the garden for when cook wants cool down.
Outside
A gravelled courtyard garden complete with outdoor furniture offers privacy, and there's space to park up to three vehicles here, too.... a real bonus in this part of town!
Practicalities
With Wi-Fi, TV, Freesat, DVD player and iPod dock, Lorne House is well equipped for your holiday entertainment. A travel cot and highchair are available, and there's a stairgate too to stop little ones sneaking off to the basement bedroom unattended! Please note a £225 security deposit is required.
