With both the town centre and the beach on its doorstep, Horseshoe Cottage wins by a head when it comes to choosing a holiday cottage that combines character and convenience. Just a few strides from iconic inn The Lord Nelson, it's chock-full of personality and clever finishing touches.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Climb the narrow staircase to find two bedrooms on the first floor. One, with views to the front, features a divine double bed before a feature wall filled with original wooden beams, whilst the other sleeps two in twin-bedded comfort. As in so many cottages of this age, the bathroom here is on the ground floor... but that's where the similarity ends, as this holiday home has a superb wet room, fully-tiled and well-proportioned.
Cooking and dining
The modern kitchen here comes complete with electric oven and hob, fridge with icebox, microwave and dishwasher. A dining table and chairs are here too, and with windows to the rear garden it's a nice light space in which to cook, consume and chatter.
Prepare for a surprise when you step into your courtyard garden - as well as some pretty patio furniture, you'll find an entire outdoor kitchen, complete with cupboards, countertop and built-in barbecue! Fully enclosed and with a traditional brick and flint feature wall, it's a fun alternative to the beach or nearby bar.
Wi-Fi, a Wii and travel cot are all provided for guests' use, and there's a TV with DVD in the sitting room. An outside utility room is where you'll find your freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer and - so sought-after in central Southwold! - there's private parking for one car in the garage just a few minutes' walk away.
