Description

number six, 6 East Cliff

This charming sea-front property has been lovingly restored and holds a wealth of history dating back to 1904. Once a Harbour Pilot's lodge and then an artist's retreat, number six has been renovated by the next generation of the same family who have owned it for 100 years. They have created a comfortable and stylish environment perfect for couples or a small family who are looking for a place to unwind, relax and escape the frenetic pace of modern life.

This pretty cottage, which is all on one level, commands a stunning position on East Cliff overlooking Southwold beach, with fabulous views from every room in the property.

The renovations successfully capture the intrinsic character of the original cottage and the decor celebrates the property's history with many original features and artefacts still in place throughout.

Entrance:
One step up onto the sea-facing sheltered verandah with white picket fence, table and chairs.

Living room:
Bright and well-appointed room with large sofa bed and "loveseat" (a cosy seat for two), coffee table, book shelves, TV with Freeview, DVD player, iPod dock, decorative fireplace with electric 'woodburner'.

Bedroom:

Bathroom (newly refurbished)
Bath with shower over, shower screen, WC and hand basin.  Heated towel rail and chest of drawers.

The bath is equipped with 2 handles and has a textured area of the bath floor at the tap end to act as a non-slip area on which to stand.  A non-slip rubber mat is also provided for the bath.  There is also a mixer shower on the taps on the bath.

The old pantry:
Storage cupboard with hanging space and shelving.

Lobby and Secret Garden:

A secluded, secret courtyard with bistro table and chairs as well as a glazed lobby catch the afternoon sunshine at the back of the property making this area a delightful and sheltered place to sit later in the day - the perfect spot for an intimate dinner.

Glazed sitting area and doors to small paved garden with bistro table and chairs.

Notes:

The cottage is ideal for two people plus a baby/toddler, but to give flexibility a double sofa bed has been provided in the living room. Access to the bathroom is through the living room.

The cottage has gas central heating throughout and is carpeted in the living room and master bedroom. There are original wooden floor-boards in the kitchen/dining room.

Please note that the fireplace in the Living Room has an electric woodburner effect fire only.

The whole holiday experience was wonderful and the administration beforehand efficient in all aspects so a repeat visit is assured - a little jewel in a wonderful place which reminds you of the best England has to offer - 17th June 2019
Excellent location, Southwold is a lovely town and perfect for the New Year break. Lovely cottage and perfect views out to sea.Mr White - 2nd January 2019
A loving and thoughtful present from a very special friend. Such a beautiful place to stay- speechless at the view, sat in the kitchen. Though cold, the weather has been kind to us. Night cap in 'The Lord Nelson' a bonus! Will definitely be back.Sue and Colin - 23rd November 2018
Another wonderful stay at No.6. Weather was perfect and the sound of those waves to wake up to in the morning PERFICK! Had a lovely day out to Aldeburgh and had a super lunch at Brudenell Hotel and to top the day off, we popped into Thorpeness and what a magical place- you shouldn't come to a part of this world without a visit. Fantastic fish and chips from ' The Little Fish and Chip Shop'. Fabulous, can't wait to come back.Mr K - 21st September 2018
What a beautiful cottage to stay at! We've had the pleasure of spending two weeks at No.6 for our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for a better view, location and facilities. We have loved every minute here, that we have booked it for our first anniversary. Hearing the waves and looking out at the stunning coastal views has definitely been our favourite parts of this holiday and it will forever be in our memories. We can't wait to return in 2019!Mr and Mrs Howse - 24th August 2018
Amazing views of the sea, been once already and are going to come back next year. Brilliant bathroom facilities- very comfortable sofas. Perfect for popping down to the beach for a swim. Truly beautiful.Mrs Kennedy - 10th August 2018
A beautiful location. Will miss waking up to the sound of the surf!Mr Farrington - 27th July 2018
A lovely relaxing and very well equipped cottage. We have enjoyed our stay. The garden room however could be lovely if it had a good clean and some "TLC".Mr Holleworth - 13th July 2018
I love dealing with Heritage Hideaways and always stay in the same amazing place. Having always holidayed in Southwold as a child, it's lovely to return as an adult with all my nieces and nephews in tow. Number six is a perfect seafront space. Artfully decorated and superbly located, I'd happily argue that it's the best place to stay in Southwold! With a wonderful veranda overlooking the sea for morning coffee and a sweet little outside space for when the holiday makers get too much in the afternoon. Number six is perfect at all hours of the days. Inspiring, intimate with an inherent artistic feeling. I wish it was my own little secret and I didn't have to share! Definitely my favourite place to stay.Mrs Owen - 8th June 2018
All in all a lovely experience through from booking to the actual holiday. Number six is just the most amazing place to stay! Everything we needed was provided, very clean and very comfortable. To hear nothing but the sea at night was special... No traffic, no people! Also the view of the sea! The patio at the back was gloomy and dirty, not a place we would have liked to sit out in.Mr Cheney - 18th May 2018
