Bedrooms and bathrooms
Five bathrooms and six sumptuous bedrooms - all featuring works by the famous Victorian authors after whom they're named - are spread across the first and second floors, and there's a ground floor cloakroom for added convenience. On the first floor, the Trollope Suite boasts a super-king-size bed, USB charging ports and spectacular sea views. An ensuite Sbordoni shower room has a large shower cubicle with rainfall shower plus a separate Lefroy Brooks hand-held shower attachment. Also with an ensuite shower room is the Dickens Suite, where the super-king-size bed can convert into twins - so please tell us which you'd prefer - plus a feature fireplace. The Gaskell Suite offers a similar choice of sleeping arrangements, and also on this floor there's a spacious Ashton and Bentley bathroom complete with roll-top bath and a separate large shower cubicle - the Cole and Son Fornasetti wallpaper in here is statement-making and guaranteed to make you smile! On the second floor, both the Bronte Suite and the Hardy Suite feature super-king-size beds which can convert into twins, conversation-piece wallcoverings and stunning views over the sea, and there's a separate shower room at this level with a double-head shower, washbasin and wc. Younger guests are not forgotten - they'll adore the Carroll Suite where two sets of cabin-style 3ft-wide beds will accommodate four comfortably. Bedtime fun is guaranteed thanks to a 49-inch LED Panasonic TV, Xbox One and Samsung Blu-Ray player (just don't expect them to doze off too early!) and there's an ensuite bathroom with a hand-held shower attachment over the bath - perfect for sandy toes and sun-kissed noses!
Cooking and dining
Exceptional in every way and with a full roll-call of high-end equipment, the open plan kitchen/dining area here is a cook's dream - the grey and cream colour scheme of the snug is continued in the central island unit and cabinets, contrasting cleverly with an elegant wooden dining suite. Catering for a crowd is effortless thanks to the Viking Professional double oven with four-ring gas hob and two large hot plates, Smeg combi microwave and American-style fridge freezer, separate wine fridge, Krups Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine and - for music while you cook - Sonos Wi-Fi sound system. On warm mornings and mellow nights, French doors open onto the rear garden where there's an equally inviting dining option with plenty of elbow room for all.
A Victorian-style tiled pathway leads through the small paved front garden to your front door, just a few steps from the sands and seafront promenade. Once inside, you may never want to leave the lavishly-presented sitting room - which has splendid sea views - and the sanctuary-like 'snug' which meets every entertainment need (there's even a jukebox!), but wander into the enclosed courtyard to the rear of the property and you'll find Mediterranean-style topiary, paving and a water feature along with a large table and chairs… perfect for a private suntan session or an al fresco dinner party.
High speed Wi-Fi, towels, L'Occitane toiletries and hairdryers in all bedrooms are provided for your convenience, along with travel cots and highchairs for any younger guests. An ExtraKlasse washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility area take care of any laundry needs, and to ensure that you make the most of your time at the coast, you'll find deckchairs, crabbing lines, buckets and spades, picnic blankets, coolboxes and fishing nets in the lobby area… along with brollies just in case there's a shower! There are binoculars various bedrooms with a sea view so you can watch the yachts and ships that journey past, parking is roadside and there's gas central heating. Please note that a £500 security deposit is required four weeks prior to your holiday.
“Chelsea Villa was a truly wonderful way to experience the English seaside in Southwold. We had a group of 11 family members ranging from young children to a grandparent, and everyone found comfort and joy in the house and its surroundings. The back patio is a beautiful spot for dinner and conversation (with a close-up view of Southwold's lighthouse), and we spent many hours there talking and laughing. The beach is just steps from the front door (with breathtaking ocean views from the bedrooms on the front side of the house) where we all played on the sand and in the surf. It's a short walk to the pier, the village shops and restaurants and, of course, the Lord Nelson pub. The stairs to the upper floors are steep, which wasn't an issue for us, and the house is beautifully decorated, which was great for us with the youngest traveler being 8 years old but possibly stress-inducing for families with toddlers (though they had great accommodations such as high chairs and a lovely room with bunk beds). We had a fabulous stay and would recommend Chelsea Villa to anyone traveling with a large group.”
