Southwold Arts Festival
Artistic types have long been drawn to Southwold. Over the centuries the town and its people have been been captured so well in paint, pencil and photography, and today it’s a popular place of escape for many a famous writer, musician and media personality.
Inaugurated in 2014, the Southwold Arts Festival has as its patron Emma Freud OBE – an obvious choice for her long association with the area (with a family home in Walberswick, she’s called Southwold her ‘favourite town in the world’) and distinguished career in TV radio and film. A showcase of local, national and international talent that fills venues in and around the town, over a week at the end of June and beginning of July, the broad-based programme includes music, theatre, poetry, visual arts, family events, talks, discussions and literature.
The Festival takes place at the end of June each year… and we here at So Southwold are delighted to be one of the sponsors!
