Oh BUOY! Look who's cruising into Southwold.
On the 26th of July, Southwold's shores will be graced by a rather special visitor. Boudicca, a Fred. Olsen cruise ship will be docking into our wonderful seaside town on its first EVER call to Southwold.
It's not every day that tourists and locals can stroll along the Suffolk Coast and spot a 206m long, £2.2 million cruise ship. Boudicca is one of Fred. Olsen's most popular and classic ships. Southwold will be part of Boudicca's eight night Wildlife of England and Scotland adventure. We're sure the passengers will love the RSPB Minsmere reserve and the iconic, multi-coloured pastel beach huts that line the seafront. With room for 880 guests and 329 crew members, Boudicca has been transporting people all over the world since it was launched in 1975. The ship has a variety of restaurants, shops and boutiques, three heated pools, lounges, bars and much more, almost as luxurious as our holiday cottages!
Boudicca will be arriving at 07:00 am. The passengers will then be transported from the ship to Southwold Harbour via smaller boats as the ship is too large to fit into our lovely harbour. Passengers will then board back onto the ship at 18:00 pm. We're sure they will be delighted after a full day of indulging in all of Southwold's delights.
Southwold is set to be buzzing on the day of the cruise ship's visit. With the 880 passengers disembarking from Boudicca, and Southwold already bustling due to the summer holidays, local businesses are sure to thrive. The ship is a sight to behold, and we highly recommend day visitors and our Suffolk Secrets customers to take a trip down to the beach on the day and take a look at the glorious Boudicca as it anchors in Southwold. Here at SO Southwold HQ, we will be waving through our water tower windows!
