We can taste the warmth of the mulled wine, we can hear the crackle of the fire and we can smell the aromas of the turkey. The festive season is on its way and the local restaurants and pubs are preparing their ‘festive fayre’ menus ready for the perfect dining experience leading up to Christmas.

Whether you’re heading out for a romantic evening for two, a jolly gathering with friends or a large family lunch we’ve got some great tips on where you should be dining over the festive period. After all, Suffolk is known for its foodie ethos…

The Sail Loft, Southwold

Southwold’s newest restaurant located along Ferry Road is the ideal destination for a relaxing dinner. With the beach just a stones throws away you can even walk-off the fullness after an indulgent meal. We love the sound of their Christmas burger - a unique twist on classic favourite – and the ‘Knickerbocker Noel’ with Christmas flavours sounds divine!

Southwold Pier, Southwold

Southwold’s most iconic building is a great place to relax and enjoy a festive spread. The Pier is a great venue for any kind of celebration be it with a loved one, a large family get together or a social gathering with a group of friends. Three course lunches are priced at £20.95 per person or a three course evening meal at £27.95. You can also choose to pay a bit extra for coffee and mince pies, the perfect end to a joyful meal.

Coasters, Southwold

This intricate setting near to South Green is the perfect place for a romantic meal for two. Independently run with a great selection of local produce, beers, wines and spirits, you’ll need to book ahead if you want to take advantage of their festive offering, especially if you’re a large table.

The Queens Head, Blyford

Just a few miles away from Southwold is this lovely Suffolk pub with character and traditional charm. Once you’ve discovered this place you’ll want to return again and again! The generous festive offering includes classics such as prawn cocktail and beef and ale pie alongside the turkey roast and Christmas pudding. You’re even welcomed with a glass of bucks fizz on arrival. This offering starts from December 1st until Christmas Eve but tables must be booked in advance.
