A popular fixture on the Suffolk social scene, the Southwold Arts Festival returns once again this June.  This week long celebration of the Arts commences on Saturday 25th June with a bright and vibrant street fair and opening night Gala Concert - An Intimate Evening with Rick Wakeman, of which So Southwold is proud sponsor.

This will be the third year the festival as taken place and it increases in popularity each year.  Organised by a group of local volunteers who are passionate about the arts and Southwold, the Festival will showcase all aspects of the arts - theatre and music, poetry and literature and visual arts.  There will be plays, exhibitions, talks, walks and concerts including performances from local, national and internationally acclaimed artists and performers.

During the week you can take a walking tour with local author Robald Binns to discover George Orwell's Southwold and how it influenced his writing, or perhaps take an 'Eccentic Look at Suffolk' with Charlie Haylock, one of Suffolk's leading entertainers.  This hilarious one-man show gives a unique and entertaining look at Suffolk life.  For something with a bit more beat why not book tickets to see Tangomotion, which features world class dancers and live music from 'Tango Siempre' which has appeared in West End show Midnight Tango, BBC Strictly Come Dancing and Covent Garden's Carmen.

The Street Fair is a hugely popular event and fun for the whole family.  It kicks off at 12noon with a circus themed parade  and the High Street will be lined with stalls (including a So Southwold stall) until 6pm.  The main stage will be set up in the Market Place where there will be all manner of entertainment from drumming bands to tango dancers, and whether the sun shines or not the atmosphere will be fabulous.

Festival week is the perfect time to take a holiday in Southwold and a So Southwold luxury holiday cottage is the best choice of accommodation.  View our luxury holiday cottages available for the Southwold Arts Festival.
