Ship Ahoy! You Won’t Want to Miss This

Saga Pearl II cruise ship comes to Southwold

It’s not often that you’ll see an 18,591 ton ship at anchor off the beaches of Southwold, but on 19th July 2016 the Saga Pearl II will be gracing our horizon, for one day only.

The visit is part of ‘Captain Dunlop’s Homecoming Cruise’, a 12-night Saga itinerary starting in Dover, travelling around the UK, visiting Jersey, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and travelling down the East coast of England back to Dover.

Southwold has never been visited by a cruise ship of any kind so there is great excitement and the town is expecting a big turnout of visitors and residents to welcome the passengers and crew of the vessel.

A modern, yacht-like ‘small’ cruise ship, the Saga Pearl II can welcome up to 449 passengers, looked after by 252 officers and crew.  It is 164m in length and has seven passenger decks, three bars, two swimming pools, a tennis court and a cinema.

he ship will be brought to anchor off our beautiful coastline by Captain Wesley Dunlop, whose hometown is Southwold.   He first joined Saga in 2004 at the age of 24 and is now Master of both the Saga Sapphire and the Saga Pearl II.

If you’re considering a cottage holiday in Southwold in July 2016, why not tie it in with this spectacular visit.  So Southwold has a fine collection of properties many of which have seafront location where you’ll have the best seat in the house!

We have several apartments in the ever-popular ‘Craighurst’ which sits right on the seafront.  2 The Craighurst is one of the latest holiday homes to join this Southwold portfolio and has sea views aplenty,   whilst no.10 has been a firm favourite with our customers for years.  Both holiday homes sleep 4 and are perfect for a family stay.
