It’s often said that Southwold is all about family holidays, but this beautiful seaside town is also a great spot for couple’s to get away from it all and enjoy a romantic weekend in a beachside location. In fact, we’ve seen some of our past guests become engaged here!

What could be more romantic than daily beach walks whether it’s day or night, gazing up at the stars or breathing in the seaside air? Stop by at The Beach Café on Southwold Pier for a bag of chips whilst walking along the sand or pop into The Clockhouse for a coffee and a slice of cake. For something a little more intimate visit The Boating Lake Tearoom for an Afternoon Cream Tea and enjoy the far reaching views.

If you’ve left your present-buying to the last minute, Seaweed and Salt on Southwold Pier is a lovely gift shop for cherished memories of your visit to Southwold. Southwold High Street has a mixture of independent shops and nationally recognised boutiques for all types of gifts. We just love Gallery Thea for personalised and unique pottery. On offer you’ll find kitchenware, trinket boxes, photo frames, hanging decorations and much more. For those who have a sweet-tooth a visit to Squires and Beaches and Cream is sure to be a mouth-watering experience with handmade chocolates, a range of confectionery, biscuits, fudge and obscure sweet treats from around the world. Southwold has an abundance of clothes shops for a spot of retail therapy – some of our favourites include Collen and Clare, Crew Clothing and Chattertons.

Many of the pubs and restaurants in Southwold create special menus for the Valentines weekend – you’ll be overwhelmed with the choice of where to dine. Our recommendations for the perfect romantic meal include Coasters Restaurant, situated along Queen Street, The Sail Loft along Ferry Road and The Boardwalk Restaurant along The Pier. Make sure you get booking to avoid disappointment!

If you’re on the hunt for a special bottle of bubbles for your weekend, head into the Adnams Cellar and Kitchen store on the corner of Victoria Street. Adnams have a large selection of sparkling wines and champagnes to suit all palettes and there is always someone on hand to assist you in finding the perfect one.

Forgotten the all-important bouquet of flowers? We are delighted that Foxtail Lily have recently re-opened in the same premises as Gulls and Buoys. Foxtail Lily are our local florists who have served Southwold for many years and can help prepare the Valentines classic bouquet of red roses or something a little different for your loved one.
