Christmas Cottages in Southwold

The summer sunshine is fading, August is nearly over, September is fast approaching which can only mean one thing – Christmas is coming!

Ok - it’s still a few months before Christmas, but with cottages selling fast for Christmas 2015 we thought we’d give you an insight on some of our larger cottages in Southwold which are currently still available to book and would be perfect for the festivities.

We couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate Christmas than in Southwold. In December the Christmas lights glisten across the High Street bringing a warm and inviting feel to the town despite the chilly air. Shop windows are suitably dressed in Christmas themed displays. Cafes serve warm mince pies and in the restaurants you’ll find a warm glass of mulled wine or two!

We’ve celebrated many Christmases in Southwold over the years, a tradition in our family is to wrap up warm and take the dog for a walk along the beach before our lunch. Usually we park along Ferry Road and walk along the Dunes then along the beach. Southwold brings us together as a family and I couldn’t think of anywhere more special to celebrate a family Christmas.

If you too are thinking of getting the family together at Christmas time we have some fantastic properties available to book for the festivities.  South Green House would be the ideal property for a group of up to twelve guests and with its spacious kitchen, who’s to say too many cooks spoil the broth?! Not only does the American style fridge freezer provide enough storage for your Christmas lunch but alongside this there is a large wine fridge for storage of beverages. The large dining room is perfect for everybody to gather around the Christmas turkey. If you too have a similar tradition to our family on Christmas Day, South Green House is not only pet-friendly but the beach is just a few paces away!

Looking for a family holiday but with enough space to spread out? The Old Gymnasium has it covered! If you’ve finished Grandma’s Christmas quiz and need somewhere to recover, this ultra-modern property has a wealth of social spaces for the family to spread out. We particularly love the ground floor sitting room as it can be used for so many different situations such as a place for the adults to retire with a glass of wine or two after cooking up the Christmas feast or even a space for the children to have time away from their parents and enjoy their presents together. The kitchen has a large granite worktop ideal for laying out your Christmas spread and the large dining table means the family can enjoy Christmas traditions together.

For an intimate family holiday The Lollypop House is in prime position along Pier Avenue just a few yards from Southwold Pier. Last year’s Christmas guests described their stay as “perfect… it was one of the best Christmases as a family we have spent and will definitely return!”. The kitchen is large enough for an ‘all hands on deck’ approach to the cooking with a large Range cooker (including a SEVEN ring gas hob for boiling the veggies!) and the American style fridge freezer perfectly sized for storing bottles of wine. The sitting room is ideal to get together and distribute Christmas presents and for extra warmth pop on the modern gas fire.  What’s even better is your four legged friend can be part of the festive fun too!

A Christmas holiday cottage can really set the scene for happy memories and all our Southwold cottages are suitably decorated along with an appropriately themed welcome bag for the best arrival after a long journey.

Our Southwold cottages mentioned above are all available to book from Tuesday 22nd December – Tuesday 29th December 2015. For more information give the So Southwold team a call on 01502 543133 or email us at The team would be delighted to assist you in booking your Christmas holiday in Southwold.

We hope to welcome you to Southwold for the festivities.
