Staff at So Southwold were delighted with the news that Southwold has achieved a Keep Britain Tidy Blue Flag in the recent 2014 awards.
A Blue Flag recognises that a beach has met the highest criteria for cleanliness, safety and management. This is very reassuring to both locals and our self-catering holiday customers - knowing that their families can play on a beach that meets the highest standards of cleanliness. In addition, to have achieved the Blue Flag award, the quality of water at Southwold had to meet strict quality standards, as judged against the EC Bathing Water Directive 2006/7/E.
With more and more people choosing to take a cottage holiday here in the UK, the importance of looking after our natural resources and maintaining these beautiful, tourist spots, has never been more important.
Staff at So Southwold take their role as “custodians” of the beautiful environment, nature reserves and beaches surrounding Southwold very seriously, and are delighted to be a recipient of a Gold VisitEngland Green Award, and are proud to participate in beach clean-ups several times a year – including the main Beachwatch Big Weekend in September.
So now that the sun has got his hat on – come on down to Southwold – the water’s lovely (and clean!).
