Good Beach Guide In a recent study by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), we were delighted to hear that the beaches at Southwold Pier and The Denes, were awarded the highest commendation of "recommended" in their Good Beach Guide. This recommendation recognises excellence in water quality – very good news for all of our wonderful visitors and customers!

The Good Beach Guide uses water quality sampling data collated during the previous season’s bathing season (mid-May to September), by local authorities and environment agencies.

Samples are tested against various criteria including bacterial indicators which show the presence of pollution from sewage and animal waste.

All of the MSC Good Beach Guide standards are based on the European Bathing Water Directive (76/160/EEC).

So come on down to Southwold and test the water! It is a Good Beach Guide hero after all!
