The Southwold Arts Festival takes place 28 June – 5 July 2014. Here is a sample of some of our favourite festival events and exhibitions:-
Festival Art Exhibition
A Southwold-inspired exhibition featuring stunning artworks by Mary Gundry, Tessa Newcomb, John Piper, Henry Davy, Katherine Hamilton and Thomas Smythe.Dates: 14 June – 16 July 2014Venue: Buckenham Galleries, 81 High Street, Southwold
“Southwold Snapshots” 1872-1972
A fringe exhibition featuring a slide show of old family snapshots of local residents. Curated by Stephen Wolfenden, this wonderful exhibition will include wartime pictures, atmospheric backing tracks and vintage photos of family holidays in Southwold.Dates: 28 June - 5th July 2014Venue: Committee Room, Southwold Town Hall, High Street, Southwold
Vin Garbutt & John Ward Folk Concert

Mary Shelley & the Curse of Frankenstein

‘My wallpaper is killing me, one of us has got to go’

Suffolk Summer Theatre – Old Herbaceous

Digby Fairweather and his Half Dozen with Val Wiseman
Digby Fairweather and the Half Dozen have been voted the best small band for the past eight consecutive years in the Annual Jazz Awards. Val Wiseman was voted the best British female jazz singer in 2011.Date: 5 July 2014, 7.30pmVenue: St Edmund's Hall, Cumberland Road, Southwold, IP18 6JP
Street Art Exhibition - Featuring Works by Banksy
One of the largest exhibitions of street art ever held in Suffolk featuring works by Banksy, Nick Walker, Pure Evil and other Internationally Famous artists.Dates: 5 - 6 July 2014Venue: The Clockhouse, Southwold Pier
The Saint Felix Frolic Sewing and Quilting Group
Comprising 23 enthusiastic and creative members, The Saint Felix Sewing and Quilting Group have produced a special quilt called a “Frolic” featuring design motifs inspired by well-known Southwold icons. Frolic-making is based on an 19th century tradition where American women would gather together to make a quilt for a special occasion.Dates: 28 June - 5 July 2014Venue: Buckenham Galleries, 81 High Street, Southwold
Southwold Art Circle 49th Annual Exhibition
Paintings and artworks by local artists from one of the longest established art societies in East Anglia.Dates: 23 June - 6 July 2014Venue: Scouts Hall, Mights Road, Southwold
Two Magpies Bakery Knitting Event
