Ingredients for the perfect summer 2014 holiday
Southwold Lettings is now taking summer 2014 holiday cottage bookings!
Southwold has all the ingredients for the perfect summer holiday. With its lifeguard service during peak holiday months and its beautiful sandy beaches, your family can spend many happy hours paddling in the sea and building sandcastles. When you’ve had enough of the beach, why not stroll the boardwalks of the town’s iconic, heritage Pier and visit the eccentric amusements in the “Under The Pier” show. Then stroll across to the boating lake which has pedal-boats for hire, a nature island, brightly painted beach huts and a refreshment Pavilion selling cream teas and treats.
If your children are still bursting with energy, head towards the harbour for a spot of crabbing. You’ll need fishing line, bait and a bucket. Don’t worry if you haven’t brought these supplies with you, the kiosk near The Alfred Corry Lifeboat Museum sells plenty of crabbing equipment.
Whilst on your mission to catch the most critters, keep an eye out for Dorothy the seal. She can often be seen swimming up and down the River Blyth.
Once your buckets have been emptied, take the rowing boat ferry across the river and walk through the Walberswick National Nature Reserve – home to many different birds and butterflies. Then cross back the river to Southwold via Bailey’s footbridge.
If Dad need’s some refreshment after all of this holiday excitement, why not send him off on a tour of the Adnam’s distillery or brewery. Regular tours run throughout the week and finish with a well-earned tasting session.
If Mum need’s pampering, the high street has a great selection of hairdressers, beauty salons, spa and many eateries offering an indulgent afternoon tea.
